It happens all the time. You find your company’s logo online, take a screenshot, and email it over for your new custom flag. While screenshots are a great way to show us the design you want, they usually are not the best choice for producing a high-quality printed flag.

Image Quality

Screenshots are made up of tiny colored dots called pixels. On your phone or computer screen, those pixels are packed closely together, making the image appear crisp and clear. But when that same image is enlarged to fit a 3′ x 5′ flag, a feather flag, or a large outdoor flag, those pixels stretch too. The result is often a logo that looks blurry, jagged, or pixelated instead of sharp and professional.

A custom flag is designed to grab attention from a distance. If your logo isn’t crisp, your brand won’t make the impression you were hoping for.

There’s another challenge unique to flags, they’re almost always moving. Wind naturally causes fabric to ripple and wave, making fine details, thin lines, and small text even harder to see. That’s why simple, bold artwork typically produces the most effective flag designs.

What File Type?

Whenever possible, provide your original logo file in a vector format such as a .ai, .eps, or sometimes a .svg file. Unlike screenshots, vector artwork can be scaled to virtually any size without losing quality, whether it’s printed on a stick flag or a giant flag flying above your business.

If you don’t have a vector file, a high-resolution PNG or JPEG may still work, depending on the size and complexity of your design. In general, the larger and cleaner the original image, the better your finished flag will look.

Only have a screenshot? Don’t worry, send it to us anyway.

Our team will review your artwork and let you know if it’s suitable for printing. In many cases, we can recreate simple logos or convert them into print-ready artwork. More detailed designs may require professional artwork preparation, which may include an additional art charge.

A beautiful custom flag starts with quality artwork, and we’re here to help make sure your flag looks as impressive in the wind as it does on your screen.
