The material of the flag starts as white, the blue background and gold emblem are printed using DuPont ink. The flag is treated to resist sun and chemical deterioration. The state of Indiana flag is printed single side reverse, which means it reads correctly on the front and reads in reverse on the back, our minds can easily read in reverse, so I’m sure you have never noticed “Indiana” was backwards. Our flags are have canvas header material and brass grommets on 12″x18″ through 6’x10′. 8’x12′ and larger are finished with D Rings and either canvas webbing or rope and thimble. 4’x6′ and smaller are available with pole hem and/or fringe.

History of Indiana State Flag:

  • Adopted May 11, 1917
  • A contest was sponsored by the Indiana Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution to design a flag
  • The incentive was a $100 cash prize
  •  More than 200 submissions were received 
  • Paul Hadley of Moorseville, Indiana won
  • The flag is blue with a gold torch that represents liberty and enlightenment
    • There are 6 rays around the torch which represent the far-reaching influence
    • The 19 stars represent Indiana as the 19th state to join the United States
    • The 13 stars on the outer loop represent the 13 original colonies, the 5 inner stars represent the next 5 states added, and the larger star above the torch represents Indiana
