The pole top adapter is necessary in a couple scenarios. One, when the flagpole does not have a threaded top to begin with. Two, when the threading does not fit the threading on the truck. The flagpole adapter would set on top of the pole and 1/4"-20NC stainless steel set screws (included) to secure to the flagpole.
