Nylon or Polyester Custom Flag

Nylon or Polyester? A common question we get asked. Normally when we have these conversations, it has to do with the American flag. And it goes a little bit like this, “well, how are you using it? Is it flying on the side of your house or on an in-ground flagpole?”. If it is flying on the side of the house, we recommend a nylon flag, because it does not fade as fast. But, there are customers who like the look and feel of the polyester flag. If it is flying on an in-ground flagpole with high winds, we recommend a polyester, because it will not fray as quickly. There is no wrong answer, we just try to guide you in a direction that best fits your needs.

When it comes to nylon or polyester custom flags, our answer is slightly different.

200 Denier Nylon Custom Flag

For years, 200 denier nylon was the only custom product we offered. We still offer it today, and believe it to be our gold standard. The material holds up and the print quality is superb. This product is 100% made in the USA. We pride ourselves on our American made products and will always suggest this first. Our 200 denier nylon custom flags can either be single side reverse or double sided.

Single Side Reverse

This is typically how flags are made. A majority of state flags, company flags, and sport team flags are single side reverse. This means the image or words read correctly on the front, but in reverse on the back.

Double Sided

A common misconception is, double sided-flags will last longer. However, these flags have 3 layers of fabric. Making the flag heavier, causing the flag to whip more. If you are interested in a double sided flag, 4’x6’ or smaller, our block out polyester is the best option.

Because our 200 denier nylon flag is made in America, and is high quality, the price can be a bit much for some. That is why we are introducing two, more affordable custom products.

100 Denier Duplex Polyester Custom Flag

Initially, when we hear polyester, we think of the most durable fabric. This is true with our American flags, but our custom polyester flags are made with a thinner material. The thinner material, 100 denier duplex polyester, is perfect for one time occasions, like concerts, tailgating, fundraisers, birthdays, jokes, and more. This is great if you are not looking to spend a lot on the flag because it will only be used a few times. We do not recommend flying this 24/7 on your flagpole, it will fray faster than the 200 denier nylon. This is an import product, and our turn-around time is 2-3 weeks from approval. Similar to our American made product.

Block Out Polyester Custom Flag

Block out polyester is a great option when looking for a double sided flag up to a 4’x6’. Custom flags that are 4’x6’ and smaller, hold up great and the block out polyester does not fray as quickly as our traditional double sided flag. It is only one piece of material, printed correctly on both sides.  With larger flags, we don’t see the best results. The flag starts to fray quicker than we would like. If you are looking for a double sided flag larger than a 4’x6’, we recommend the gold standard, 200 denier nylon double sided flag. Our custom sales team is available to chat about your project to see if a double sided is what you really need.
