Some of us think of Labor Day as the end of Summer, the start of school, or the official beginning of Fall. However, it is important to remember the reason for this 3-day weekend. During the Industrial Revolution, Americans were working an average of 12 hour days, 7 days a week. Something needed to change. In 1884 a law passed making Labor Day a legal holiday.
