It’s often said that two is better than one, but sometimes it isn’t. Particularly in the case of a custom flag. Choosing between a single side reverse and double-sided flag depends on your display needs, budget, and intended visibility. While double-sided flags read correctly on both sides, single side reverse flags have their advantages that make them the right choice in most situations. In this article we’ll explore why single side reverse flags are better than double-sided flags.
Cost-Effective
Single side reverse flags are half the price of double-sided flags. In 90% of the situations, a single side reverse is all a customer needs. 48/50 state flags are single side reverse. It reads correctly on the front and reads in reverse on the back with a full bleed through. The human brain can read in reverse if needed. We can comprehend what the flag says from the back.
Best for Outdoor Use
Single side reverse flags are best for outdoor use on a flagpole. Because the flag can be seen from both sides, the single side reverse flag makes the most sense when flown outside. Because it is a single layer of fabric, instead of two flags sewn back to back with a liner in the middle, the single layer of fabric actually will last longer. The weight from a double sided flag causes the flag to whip more, causing it to fray faster.
Readability
While a double sided flag reads correctly on both sides, the weight from the flag might cause it to lay against the pole majority of the time. A single side reverse will fly easy, and you can see the back of it. Double sided flags are great for indoor display, honor guard, or in a parade when you would like it to be seen correctly from both sides.
So you see, sometimes one is better than two. If you’re looking for an affordable, lightweight, and long-lasting flag, a single side reverse is the option you want. Let’s just reiterate, a single side reverse flag is seen from both sides, just reads in reverse on the back. Custom Flag Co is more than happy to help bring your designs to life, contact us anytime!
